Chief Executive Officer
With over two decades of successful senior executive leadership experience, Chris brings a unique breadth of knowledge derived from a diverse range of industry sectors and business environments, including specialist knowledge of large-scale Telecommunications engineering and deployment programs.
Chris has a strong focus on customer service and value creation, and proven experience in developing and delivering business strategies and complex projects across the business value chain.
Sharon Bird
Vice President GIS Technology Solutions
As Vice President of Axin’s US and New Zealand technology teams, Sharon brings extensive expertise in Technical Development Delivery, Project Management, Test Management, Capability Delivery, and Programme Management.
Her leadership drives innovation across Axin Global’s GIS technology initiatives. Sharon has successfully delivered complex projects, including the repatriation of over 750,000 customers to a single utility system for BC Gas (Canada), the development of Axin’s GIS Design Tools, and the implementation of integrated Job Management Systems.
She has collaborated with organizations such as the Bank of New Zealand, KiwiRail, Fletcher Building, and Downer New Zealand. Sharon’s ability to lead diverse, international teams highlights her strategic vision and strong focus on customer engagement and value creation.
Jason van Niekerk
Vice President OSP Design & Engineering
As Vice President of the Design and Engineering team, Jason brings over a decade of industry experience leading Axin Global’s team of ISP and OSP designers, project managers, fielders, permitting and planning engineers.
As one of Axin’s earliest team members, he has played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s success and sustaining its position as an industry leader. Jason’s expertise spans senior design roles in fiber networks utilising various architectures, project management for urban and rural FTTx projects, and Programme Management.
He has been instrumental in developing Axin’s comprehensive Design, Fielding, and Quality Control processes, ensuring consistent high performance. His work across North America, particularly with Electrical Co-ops, highlights his dedication to excellence and innovation.
Delwyn Ellis
Finance Manager
Delwyn brings over 20 years of Finance experience in the Telecommunication and Commercial Construction Industries to her role as Finance Manager with Axin Global.
She is a problem solver and continuous improvement champion who focuses on building and maintaining relationships with external and internal stakeholders at all levels of an organisation. She has successfully managed the delivery of payroll and ERP implementations, as well as complex company integrations following acquisitions.
Delwyn has led diverse teams to drive change and streamline processes with an emphasis on technology, while remaining focused on providing information, advice, and risk assessments in order to ensure organisations are able to make sound financial decisions while providing the best customer service and value.
Phil Conway
Senior Operations Director
Phil brings over 35 years of international telecommunications expertise to Axin Global, spanning diverse roles in OSP design, commercial operations, network engineering, construction and maintenance.
Specializing in large-scale FTTx Outside Plant architecture and design, Phil has held senior technical and management positions with leading telecommunications companies in North America and the South Pacific. He has a proven track record of building and leading large-scale operations and design teams, driving success in complex and high-impact projects.
Samantha Ottley
Senior Director GIS Product Development
With over 15 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, Sam leads Axin’s New Zealand-based GIS technology team as Senior Director of GIS Product Development.
She brings expertise in FTTx design, Outside Plant Construction, Project and Programme Management, Business Analysis, and GIS technology. Sam has been instrumental in developing Axin Global’s pioneering Outside Plant Construction toolset, transforming how technology supports infrastructure projects. Throughout her career, she has successfully driven process development, client delivery improvements, and national infrastructure program delivery.
As an Engineering graduate, Sam focuses on innovation and leveraging technology to modernize workplace processes and products, both in the office and the field.
Sean Bell
Senior Programme Director
As Senior Programme Director at Axin Global with over 22 years of experience in the Telecommunications and Utilities industry, including 15 years in senior leadership roles, Sean is skilled in Programme Management, Process Development, Service Delivery, and Stakeholder Management.
Sean oversees the end-to-end planning and delivery of Outside Plant (OSP) Fiber Design, Fielding collection activities, and Permitting services for thousands of miles of network cable annually in rural USA. His key achievements include overseeing the delivery of more than 12,000 miles of fiber optic network in rural USA and serving as a SME on large-scale Utilities Transformation Projects.
